Kevin Chao
LiCenSed Professional Counselor Candidate
Kevin is currently accepting new therapy clients- virtual afternoon and evening sessions only.
I am passionate about helping people discover their best selves and find peace in the midst of chaos. My work is rooted in a client-centered approach, grounded in the belief that each person already carries within them the ability to grow and heal.
I also love baking with sourdough, and I see many parallels between sourdough and therapy. Just as a baker doesn’t create the life in the starter but provides the right conditions for it to thrive, my role in therapy is to create an environment where growth can happen naturally. Through listening, respect, and a nonjudgmental presence, I aim to support healthy, active growth for you.
I welcome and work with people of all races, ethnicities, genders, and orientations. Presence and deep listening guide my work, both in therapy and in life. In my role as a school psychologist, I see daily how creating safe, supportive conditions allows people from all backgrounds to access their strengths and move toward growth. I am comfortable sitting with people in the middle of pain—whether that means hearing difficult and traumatic experiences or being present during moments of crisis. The same philosophy shapes my therapy work with clients of all ages.
My Training and Experience: I earned my Master’s in School Psychology and Certificate of Advanced Graduate Studies in School Psychology from Eastern University. My ongoing professional development includes focused work in ACT (Acceptance and Commitment Therapy), CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy), DBT (Dialectical Behavior Therapy), and Solution-Focused Therapy. I hold licenses in school psychology (where I support students from diverse backgrounds and experiences in DPS) and Professional Counseling (where I hope to get to support you).
Whether in schools or in therapy, I believe growth is always possible when people feel seen, heard, and valued. My hope is to provide that kind of space for you.
